Teachers in Jamaica have been protesting through sit-ins, sick-outs, and outright protests for the past three days due to their dissatisfaction with the Government’s compensation offer. The Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) rejected the offer and signalled a possible escalation of the protests on Wednesday (March 8).

The JTA demanded a livable wage of at least $3 million per annum and called for an urgent meeting with the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service.
