Robert Morgan, minister without portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister with responsibility for information, has defended Juliet Holness, the member of parliament for East Rural St Andrew, over her recent comments about the conditions under which she suggested only ‘Comrades’ would be found living.

Holness has come under heavy criticism over the comments, which have been labelled in some quarters as “denigrating” to supporters of the Opposition People’s National Party.

Morgan, however, argued that the broader point Holness had been trying to make was about the importance of good leadership, which he suggested should have prevented persons from setting up homes in such dangerous areas.
