Some say Conservative Party Leader Kemi Badenoch went too far in her take-down of Rachel Reeves, that she made it personal and that her invective was a tad much.
Then there are those who say it was the best parliamentary presentation in decades, very much in the vein of Margaret Thatcher and that Badenoch has reawakened her party and could give them a fighting chance at the next general election.
The Iron Lady herself would have been proud of this parliamentary performance.
Brimming with vim and fire, Badenoch let rip, excoriating Rachel Reeves, who looked dumbfounded.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer has since denied that she misled the country and did not intentionally break the Government’s pledge not to increase income tax.
Kemi Badenoch stressed that Reeves raised taxes to pay for welfare, which is unforgivable and will put the UK in both a fiscal and economic mess.
The UK’s Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) says the British economy will grow by 1.5 this fiscal year, but Reeves intends to do better than that and wants to create fiscal space, but global turbulence is an impediment.
Answering claims that she was too hard on Reeves, Badenoch replied, “My job is to hold the Government to account, not to provide emotional support for the chancellor, and the people out there wanted someone to tell her she was doing a bad job as I had to make sure that I got that message across.”
