West Indies Petroleum Company Limited (WIP) has announced the appointment of Wayne Fraser as its new head of operations.

Fraser brings over three decades of experience in the bauxite, petroleum, and construction industries to his new role at WIP. Recruited for his strong leadership skills and ability to manage large teams and complex operations, Fraser will play a crucial role in WIP’s expansion efforts across the Caribbean and Latin American region.

WIP has positioned itself as a major player in ship bunkering and fuel distribution over the past decade. As such, the company said that Fraser’s appointment is a strategic move to strengthen its position in the competitive energy sector.

CEO of WIP Charles Chambers expressed confidence in Fraser’s addition to the leadership team.

“Wayne’s appointment as head of operations is a significant step forward for our company.  His extensive experience and established track record in managing critical aspects of the energy and logistics sectors align perfectly with our growth strategy. We are confident that Wayne’s leadership will further drive operational excellence and support our expansion plans in the region,” he said.

In his previous roles, Fraser led critical logistics operations for fuels, chemicals, and lubricants, ensuring efficient supply chain management. His expertise extends to comprehensive facilities management, project management, and industry and regulatory compliance.  Fraser has also been instrumental in guiding robust Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) programmes.

WIP imports and exports fuel, is a major local distributor of fuel and commercial-grade lubricants, and provides storage services. With storage capacity exceeding 700,000 barrels, the company boasts the second-largest fuel bunker capabilities in Jamaica.
