His passion never subsided, however, and he pushed for and pursued his dream of becoming an artiste. A part of the 2 Flashy Records recording company, the DJ’s mother has stood by his side, being an ardent member of his management team. Hailing from St Thomas, Rytikal, whose real name is Ryan McFarlene, ventured into farming and construction. He planted what he described as quick crops. These included tomato, cabbage, plantain and banana, however, he farmed not for monetary gain but for the love of it.

A high school dropout, the 25-year-old always wanted to become a musician and praises his predecessors Vybz Kartel, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Mavado, Chronixx, Jahvillani and Skillibeng. Constantly being compared to and confused with Skillibeng, the artiste is confident that one day the public will be able to identify the difference between the two.
