The Easter season is officially here! This is generally a period when many Jamaicans enjoy delectable dishes consisting of mostly seafood and, of course, bun and cheese.

But similar to other holiday periods throughout the year, many people tend to get carried away with food and neglect the health of their body and mind.

If you are one of those individuals, no need to worry, Our Today has a few tips to help you stay healthy during Easter.

Choose healthy food options

With the many food options to choose from, it can be difficult to say no to the sweet treats associated with the Easter period.

While these foods are delicious, it is important to manage your portion size. Be sure to include fruits and vegetables in the mix.

Exercise

Get active this Easter period. Go for a walk or run. Do some jumping jacks.

Exercise is not only good for you, but it makes you feel good both inside and out. It helps to reduce stress and anxiety, which is a great way to relax after a hectic day at the job.

Drink plenty water

Drink plenty of water this Easter season to keep the body hydrated. Water consumption helps the body to replenish fluids lost through urination and sweating.

Make time for self-care and rest

Take some time out during the busy Easter season to relax and rejuvenate. Many people get carried away with things happening around them while neglecting their overall health and well-being.

Make time for yourself and check in with how you are doing.

Limit alcohol consumption

The Easter period is generally a time to have fun with family and friends. For many, this includes going to parties and consuming alcohol.

It is recommended that you limit your alcohol consumption to prevent the many risks associated with increased alcohol consumption, such as impairing your judgement, which increases the risk for motor vehicle accidents.

Similarly, alcohol consumption is generally linked to many medical complications such as high blood pressure and certain cancers.
