The Meteorological Service of Jamaica is today (October 4) advising citizens to expect more rainy, windy conditions across sections of the island as a trough dominates local weather well into this week.

The Met Service, in a 5:00 am Monday forecast, noted that in addition to the low-level trough that stretches from the central Caribbean, a tropical wave also slowly enters the skies over Jamaica.

“The tropical wave is expected to move across the island today, while the trough is expected to linger across Jamaica through to Wednesday. Additionally, expect windy conditions especially across southern parishes through to Wednesday,” the weather and climate agency indicated.

Over the next 24 hours, the Met Service said morning conditions should be mostly cloudy, while showers and isolated thunderstorms are otherwise in store across eastern parishes.

Later in the afternoon, Jamaicans can anticipate extra cloud cover, gusty winds with showers and thunderstorms across most parishes—before giving way to lingering showers and thunderstorms across eastern and south-central parishes tonight.
