After an enthralling season two finale, it’s a shame that the critically acclaimed AMC horror series ‘Interview with the Vampire‘ missed the Emmy’s deadline after some phenomenal acting.

In Season 2, the interview continues in present day as Louis De Pointe Du Lac (played by Jacob Anderson) reflects on the events after Lestat De Lioncourt’s (Sam Reid) ‘death’. He travels with his adopted vampire daughter Claudia (Delainey Hayles), exploring Europe in hopes of finding other vampires.

The duo finds comfort in World War II-era Paris, discovering a vampire coven and theatre company called Théâtre des Vampires, led by Armand (Assad Zaman) with whom Louis pursues a romantic relationship. Claudia also pursues a connection with a French seamstress Madeline (Roxane Duran).

Armand and his coven of thespians, uncover Louis and Claudia’s secret and perform a trial/play where Lestat gives his testimony about his failed assassination. Realising the trial was a ‘stoning’ and was meant to kill her, Claudia accepts her fate and is burned alive along with a recently turned Madeline who chooses to die with her.

In an attempt to save his lover, Armand tells Louis he swayed the minds of the jury/audience and gives him a lesser sentence of banishment.

Louis later carries out a mass killing of the remaining coven members as revenge in Claudia’s honour.

Louis and Armand’s affair finally ended in death and devastation in Paris after ace journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) exposes Armand for orchestrating the trial in an attempt to kill Louis Claudia and Madeline, explaining to Louis that it was Lestat who saved him.

Claudia’s death served as a pivotal moment in the series, staring right at Lestat before being reduced to ashes.

After Armand’s deception is revealed, Louis returns to his hometown in modern New Orleans and has a heartwarming reconciliation with Lestat as they discuss what happened in Paris in a shack during a hurricane. Lestat holds a wooden replica of a piano and mentions he’s practising for a tour.

Despite lacklustre advertising by AMC+, there’s already confirmation of a third season which will focus on Lestat, following the order of the original books in Anne Rice’s ‘Vampire Chronicles‘.

A promising gem on television and hailed as one of the ‘Best Reviewed Horror Series of 2022’ by Rotten Tomatoes, and recently praised by horror filmmaker Mike Flannigan as “One of the very best shows on TV.” on his X account.

Fans have nothing to worry about if viewership keeps an upward trend. Unfortunately, This might be a problem for the cable network which is seeing a decline in viewership after the first season.

Fear not, it’s not all doom and gloom.

Streaming giant Netflix is bringing fourteen AMC originals to its platforms on August 19 and many supporters of the show are hopeful that this move between the two companies will give ‘Interview with the Vampire‘ the exposure it so desperately needs and deserves.
