The highly anticipated Freedom Street Concert, headlined by dancehall icon Vybz Kartel, delivered an unforgettable experience at the National Stadium on New Year’s Eve.

Alongside the previously announced lineup, a slew of surprise dancehall artistes took the stage, adding spontaneity to the event and cementing its reputation as the year’s most talked-about show.

While fans were eager to see dancehall powerhouse Masicka, his absence was due to a scheduling conflict with his performance at the Munks Garage Truck Show in Clarendon. The event, however, compensated for his absence with a surprise string of unannounced performances that added extra excitement to the night.

Artistes such as Eddy G Bomba, Skeng, Ishawna, Savage, Jamal, among others, graced the stage with high-energy performances that kept the crowd engaged. Their unexpected appearances contributed to the energetic and celebratory atmosphere.

“If yuh nuh hear yuh favourite song, I apologise…Wi affi mek sure wi accommodate as much artiste as possible,” said Kartel as the show came to close minutes to three.

The previously confirmed lineup, which included heavyweights like Spice, Skillibeng, Chronic Law, Rvssian, Likkle Vybz, Likkle Addi, Popcaan, Tommy Lee Sparta, Lisa Hyper, Gaza Indu, Sheba, Jah Vinci, Shawn Storm, African superstar Shatta Wale, and rap legend Busta Rhymes, did not disappoint. Fans were treated to a mix of timeless hits and fresh tracks showcasing the massive range of the dancehall genre and Kartel’s legendary status.

The Fever artiste’s set was nothing short of spectacular, as he performed fan favourites and connected with the audience in a way only he could.

The inclusion of Jamaica’s top DJs, including ZJ Chrome and Chromatic, further amplified the evening’s energy, keeping the crowd hyped between performances.

Freedom Street concert proved a resounding success, welding its place as the ultimate year-end celebration for dancehall and Gaza fans.
