Fans of the hit anime series Jujutsu Kaisen are impatiently awaiting the next anime chapter, especially after the manga’s conclusion in September. Following the acclaimed second season in 2023, MAPPA Studio has confirmed that a third season is in development, though details are still scarce.
Spoiler alert for those who are not caught up!
Season 2 adapted two major arcs from the manga: Gojo’s Past and the brutal Shibuya Incident, which captivated audiences with its intense action and deep storytelling. The upcoming season, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, will shift focus to the ‘Culling Game Arc’—a high-stakes, battle-royale-style ritual that pits sorcerers from different eras against each other. Many of these sorcerers are reincarnated or newly awakened by Kenjaku, the sinister mastermind behind the series’ dark events— and current manipulator of Suguru Geto’s body.

Since December 2023, fans have been waiting for more updates on the third season, but so far, MAPPA has not released a trailer or confirmed a release date. However, Toho Producer Hiroaki Matsutani offered some assurance during an interview with Oricon News, confirming that the next season is in production.
“We have received passionate messages from local fans every day,” Matsutani said, expressing excitement about the growing popularity of Jujutsu Kaisen globally. He reassured fans that the studio is “working hard on the sequel to the TV anime,” urging viewers to stay tuned for future updates.
Matsutani also hinted at the ongoing success of Jujutsu Kaisen’s attraction at Universal Studios Japan, which has now been extended to Universal Studios Hollywood, much to the delight of international fans. While there is no word yet on a release window, the promise of more episodes is keeping anticipation high. Rumours of a potential Part 2 have been circulating, though no concrete information has been provided besides hopeful fans on social media giving themselves something to quell their anxiety during the show’s delay.
