By now, you’ve marked your calendars for the upcoming Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum Festival (JRF) slated for Thursday (July 18), but have you secured your outfits?

Naturally, you want to look your best while you sip on your favourite rums, enjoy mouthwatering dishes from the food village, enjoy presentations from one of the lead sponsors, Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum, and pose for pictures with your crew.

You’ve come to the right place if you’re looking for style inspiration. Here are four style profiles we think you can channel for JRF 2024.

‘Festival chic’

The theme for Jamaica Rum Festival is festival chic, so if you want to be on theme this year, this is the style profile for you.

That means you should opt for fringes, round sunglasses, and anything 70s-inspired or boho chic.

Therefore, you can opt for a tie-dye t-shirt or a crochet top with your cutest denim shorts.

As for accessories, think elaborate earrings or big hats.

There is already a ton of style inspo for this out there, so you’ll surely find something that suits you.

Fashionable

This is for the fashionistas who prefer style over comfort and regularly say, “Beauty is pain.”

If you like being the star of the show, fashionable is probably your style profile.

You’ll probably opt for long bell-bottom pants or wide-legged slacks, a bralette or a crop top, and your favourite pair of sandals to show off your freshly painted white toes. This outfit can also be considered festival chic too since bell-bottom pants are a blast from the past that’s making a comeback.

Remember, the Jamaica Rum Festival is an all-day event that lingers into the night. After you’ve taken all your pictures, you may want to change your footwear into something more comfortable if you didn’t wear something comfortable in the first place.

As a fashionista, you know that accessories make or break your outfit.

So you’ll include the perfect pair of sunglasses, chains/necklaces, and a bag that complements your outfit, even if it doesn’t hold much.

However, we recommend carrying a fashionable tote for all your goodies.

Of course, you can’t forget your mini fan to ward off the heat.

Casually relaxed

People who opt for casually relaxed styles prioritise their comfort above all else, and they look good doing it, too.

If that’s more your style, you’re probably opting for a fashionable sundress, favourite sandals and a tote to hold all your essentials and goodies from the festival.

Not a fan of dresses?

A pair of lightweight slacks, a sleeveless top, and a sun hat will keep you cool and comfortable and make you look great.

Finally, you can’t go wrong with your most comfortable shorts, sneakers and light, flowy top.

You’ll be able to relax with your favourite drink and not worry that your feet hurt.

Don’t forget to apply sunscreen and have some with you for reapplication throughout the day; the July sun is no joke, and we don’t want anything to ruin your festival experience.

Sporty

If you’re planning to check out all the attractions, be on your feet most of the day and want to be comfortable doing that, you may want to dress sporty.

An oversized t-shirt paired with shorts, joggers, and matching sneakers may be your go-to for this event.

You can pair tennis shoes with your favourite mini skirt and jersey top or even an oversized cropped long-sleeve top with shorts.

You will be able to easily glide from Wray & Nephew White Overproof’s seminar presentation to the food village and the local artisan village at the event.

Jamaica Rum Festival promises to be a jam-packed afternoon and night. We recommend packing your portable chargers, sun protection, lip balm and a folding chair.

Whatever style profile you go with, make sure it feels authentic to you. There is so much to do at the Jamaica Rum Festival, and you won’t want to waste a minute worrying about your outfit. Trust us, you’ll be having too much fun anyway.
