Colombian popstar Shakira has called it quits, separating from the father of her kids and partner Barcelona footballer, Gerad Pique.

They got together in 2010 after Pique appeared in the video for the song Waka, Waka, the World Cup anthem for the event staged in South Africa.

A statement read: “We regret to confirm that we are separating. We ask for privacy at this moment for the well-being of our children, who are our maximum priority. Thank you in advance for your understanding and respect.”

The couple have two sons, nine-year-old Milan and seven-year-old Sasha.   

10-YEAR AGE GAP

There is a 10-year age gap between the glamorous showbiz couple with Shakira now 45 and Pique, 35.

According to media reports, Shakira insisted Pique move out of the house and now he is living in an apartment in Barcelona and is back on the party scene.

Shakira has said in the past that marriage scares her and that she wanted Pique to see her as his girlfriend and lover and be possessed by desire for her.

“I want to keep him on his toes. I want him to think that anything is possible, depending on behaviour.”
