What does Jamaica’s future look like through the eyes of the people helping to build it?
From business leaders and policymakers to athletes, manufacturers and community leaders, many of the ideas, decisions and partnerships helping to shape Jamaica’s future emerge through conversations that happen behind boardroom doors, on brewery floors and within communities, yet are rarely heard by the wider public. Red Stripe is seeking to change that through The Stripe Pod, a new conversation platform that brings together voices from business, government, sport and community development to explore the ideas, decisions and partnerships shaping Jamaica’s future.
The first season features conversations with Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce Senator the Hon. Aubyn Hill, Olympic legend and brand ambassador Usain Bolt, Red Stripe Board Chairman Peter Melhado, business leaders, sustainability specialists and community partners. Together, they explore topics ranging from Jamaica’s manufacturing sector and brewing heritage to environmental stewardship, local sourcing, socio-economic impact and the role partnerships play in national development.
For host Tyheissa Williams, The Stripe Pod is about making these conversations accessible to more Jamaicans and demonstrating how business, government and communities can work together to create meaningful impact. “Every episode begins with one simple question: ‘Why should this matter to Jamaica?’ Every guest brings a unique perspective shaped by their own experiences, challenges and successes. What connects them is a willingness to share what they’ve learned in the hope that it informs, inspires and encourages others. We hope those conversations challenge perspectives, spark new thinking and show what’s possible when people come together around a shared purpose.”
As Jamaica continues to tackle complex economic, social and environmental challenges, collaboration across business, government and communities has never been more critical. Through the Stripe Pod, listeners gain a behind-the-scenes look at the ideas, partnerships and decisions helping to move the country forward. Rather than focusing solely on achievements, each conversation explores the challenges, lessons and defining moments that have shaped each guest’s journey, offering practical insights for entrepreneurs, professionals and anyone interested in Jamaica’s continued development.
Launching on 17 July, The Stripe Pod will release new episodes monthly on Red Stripe’s YouTube channel, beginning with a conversation featuring Board Chairman Peter Melhado. In the debut episode, he reflects on the company’s nearly 100-year legacy, the values that have shaped one of Jamaica’s most iconic brands, and the role businesses can play in building a stronger, more sustainable future for the country.
