So many black American entertainers and YouTube commentators are now embroiling rap legend Jay-Z and his wife pop sensation Beyonce in the downfall of Diddy and claiming that they will be the next ones to befall a similar fate.
This is incredulous and spurious. There is no scintilla of evidence that they were involved in any of these alleged abuses, yet over recent weeks their names keep coming up.
Is this a case of jealousy and envy? Are there so many people covetous of their wealth and acclaim, desperate to knock them off of their thrones as king and queen of the black music industry?
Jay-Z and Beyonce epitomise the American dream- successful, wealthy, influential, married after several years, parents to three children and still going strong.

Nevertheless, the haters seem determined to bring them down and are making a dubious inextricable link to Diddy’s misfortunes.
Why?
They may have attended some of Diddy’s legendary parties but so too have most of the big stars of the entertainment world. This doesn’t mean they engaged in the acts, Diddy is said to be have participated in.
It is befuddling that after all these years, black entertainers are pointing the finger at Jay-Z and Beyonce in such an accusatory way with scant evidence.
Some are not even careful with what they say which may very well lead to legal action. You cannot go around defaming people, unable to prove what you claim.

Both Jay-Z and Beyonce may ignore this but it must be hurtful and will make them very guarded in the future. They both have acknowledged their black fan base though as global superstars they are beyond that now. For all they have done, many of their contemporaries have turned on them almost gleefully, presaging their doom. It must harden their hearts.
Jay-Z has talked about the importance of not getting disconnected from the community and if you do, it may very well forsake you. He cites O.J.Simpson in this regard (“ I’m not black, I’m O.J.. OK!”) Both Jay-Z and Beyonce are seen as important cultural icons in America, so why tear them down when there is no history of them engaging in nefarious and dissolute activities?
No one has come out and said tying them in such a manner to Diddy’s predicament is ridiculous not to mention just patently wrong. One gets the impression there are people in that world who are delighting in seeing Jay-Z and Beyonce’s image tarnished.

The Feds, The FBI and CIA are not exactly beating down their door and taking down the Basquiats off the wall looking for incriminating evidence.
Some are calling for Jay-Z to come forward and give an account of what he knows. Perhaps all he knows is that Diddy has always liked to host and be the life of the party with a penchant for being gobby. As a fellow rap mogul he might have admired what Diddy was able to achieve. He might have heard the same rumours others say they knew to be true all along, but no more than that. He kept his nose out of it and went about his business. So why should he stick his neck out? Why should the man’s wife be implicated in all this drama?
It’s unfair to rope Jay-Z and Beyonce into Diddy’s mess simply because they are the biggest African-American music stars out there today. Both seem too smart to find themselves caught up in that entanglement.
Beyonce has a fantastic career defined by talent with a pristine image. Both her and her husband have massive cultural influence. Jay-Z is undoubtedly one of the most successful and lyrically gifted rappers of his generation. He is now in his mid-fifties and is still on top of what is said to be a young person’s game.

Black entertainment has not seen such a dynamic duo since…Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis.
Beyonce told Vogue in 2013, “ I don’t feel like I have to please anyone. I can do what I want. I can say what I want. I can retire if I want. That’s why I have worked so hard.”
She has maintained that position for a decade now. The Diddy mud being thrown at her now will not stick. This year one can see she has been creatively bold, coming out of her comfort zone with a country album.
While she is focused on her work, her detractors clamour to drag both her and Jay-Z down and sully their names.
What may be irking these black American entertainers is that Jay-Z and Beyonce’s union has endured for over two decades, a rare feat in the entertainment industry noted for its ephemeral relationships. This could be sending the haters apoplectic
It is so left field to say Jay-Z and Beyonce condone these supposed Diddy shenanigans. As Tim Walz would say, “Weird!”
Why do so many people want to see Jigga and Bey fall?
