To all ‘Elle Woods’ lovers, a third Legally Blonde movie is on the horizon and will make its debut in May 2022.

The release date was announced by MGM studio’s Twitter page in October 2020.

According to reports, the movie was scheduled for release in February 12, 2020, but got delayed due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

With the pandemic currently trending, will the Legally Blonde 3 movie gets pushed back again?

Fans will certainly hope not!

Reese Witherspoon is also set to resume her original role as Elle Woods.

Legally Blonde was first released in 2001 and was centred around Elle Woods enrolling at Harvard Law School after a break-up with her longtime boyfriend.

The sequel was released in 2003 and focused on Elle going to Washington DC as an advocate for animal rights.

According to reports, in June 2018, Witherspoon posted a video of herself ‘chillin’ in a pool with the caption, “it’s true….”

Fans worldwide literally have been in a frenzy… waiting.

Since then, Hollywood has been teasing with more and more details about the second sequel slowly surfacing on the Internet.

About Legally Blonde 3 so far…

In an interview with Witherspoon in 2019, she promised that the movie would be ‘so much fun, so full of fashion. So full of awesome feminist ideas. It will be global.’

Did she mean, ‘it’s worth the wait?’

She continued by adding: “It will have animals, it will have returning cast members. We just need to film it first. But that’s my hope and dream for Legally Blonde 3. It will have the return of Jennifer Coolidge, which is the greatest.”

Thank God this interview was in 2019…. your fans cannot wait much longer Elle!

Returning cast members

Apart from the cool Coolidge’s return as Paulette, ‘the beauty connoisseur’, it is unclear who else will return on set.

For now, it is just Witherspoon and Coolidge that have confirmed their return to the set.

However, back 2018, Witherspoon said in an interview, “all the new plot points and all the characters and some returning characters and some new characters”.

Hopefully, Legally Blonde isn’t too different, Elle Woods and the other characters are well loved and well frankly the movie is just an inspiration.

‘Doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from, you can always accomplish whatever you set your mind out to achieve.’

That’s the lesson learnt from watching Legally Blonde.

As for when it will be possible for the cast and crew to start filming, who knows, this pandemic is currently in its third global wave and the fans can only hope and wait for it to subside quickly.
