The Jamaica Meteorological Service says citizens can expect windy and partly cloudy conditions into the middle of this week, as a low-level jet stream enters the general vicinity of the central Caribbean.

The Met Office, in its Wednesday (February 12) forecast, anticipated that with a high-pressure ridge dissipating in the coming days, the jet stream would influence weather in the western Caribbean—moving across Jamaica today into Thursday.

Conditions begin with a partly cloudy morning across eastern parishes, while it should be mainly sunny elsewhere and windy, especially across southern parishes and Jamaica’s hilly interior. Skies are expected to remain partly cloudy into this afternoon with gusty winds.

The maximum temperature expected for major cities Kingston and Montego Bay is 31 and 30 degrees Celcius, respectively.

Executive Director of the NSWMA, Audley Gordon, noted that the sum is in addition to an initial $500 million that the authority received shortly after the category-five hurricane devastated much of the island.
