The WiPay Group has entered its third consecutive year delivering digital government grants across Grenada using its GovPay platform—a solution now recognised as one of the Caribbean’s most advanced public disbursement systems.

This multi-year partnership is one of the region’s most advanced examples of government-led digital disbursements and continues to serve as a blueprint for other island governments exploring modern payment solutions.

Under the WiPay GovPay platform, Grenada has issued thousands of payments through programs such as the Uniform Grant, Book Grant, and Back-to-School initiatives. The system allows direct payments to beneficiaries via their mobile devices, redeemable instantly at authorised merchants.

First launched in 2023, GovPay quickly moved from pilot to policy. After delivering on-time disbursements across education-related grants, the platform was adopted by multiple ministries for wider national use, all without disruption to government operations.. Since then, WiPay has trained public sector staff, onboarded vendors, and maintained a consistent, real-time reporting and disbursement engine.

Group CEO Aldwyn Wayne stated: “We’re proud of what this partnership has grown into. GovPay is no longer a pilot. It is a proven, trusted platform that helps governments distribute funds quickly, safely, and transparently. Our long-standing partnership with Grenada shows that this model works.”

In a region still grappling with inefficiencies in manual cash-based systems, Grenada’s model is setting a new standard. The GovPay platform has removed bottlenecks in aid delivery, improved audit readiness, and enabled the government to respond quickly to real community needs.

Not just a test, this is national infrastructure

GovPay is designed to remove inefficiencies tied to manual grant distribution, including paper vouchers, long lines, and limited oversight. With each cycle, Grenada’s implementation has improved, showing measurable results in speed, accuracy, and user experience.

With this third-year renewal, WiPay solidifies its role not just as a service provider but as a long-term digital partner to governments seeking secure and scalable disbursement solutions.

A model for other island governments

GovPay is fully owned and operated by the WiPay Group. With a growing track record in Grenada and experience supporting public-sector programmes in Jamaica, Guyana, and Barbados,

WiPay is now inviting governments across the Caribbean to explore similar partnerships. As more governments across the Caribbean explore modernisation strategies, Grenada’s approach with GovPay is emerging as the benchmark, both in outcomes and in operational efficiency.
