Sister troupes Wolmer’s Dance Troupe and Dance Troupe Xaymaca (DTX) have joined forces for an extraordinary season this weekend.
Titled ‘Synergy’, the recital is a celebration of the rebirth of dance and the bringing together of sister companies under one umbrella on stage.
“This is definitely a celebration of freedom now the pandemic is over. It’s been two and a half years not dancing so we are grateful that we can resume,” said Barbara McDaniel, artistic director for both companies.
It’s been 31 years of beating the boards and bringing entertainment to dance enthusiasts. This year will be no different as sister companies, Wolmer’s Dance Troupe and Dance Theatre Xaymaca (DTX), will together bring the experiences and synergies of varying genres using modern, contemporary, dancehall and folk-dance styles.

The continuity of dance between the sister companies is revered, with those of the senior troupe DTX evolving from the Wolmer’s Dance Troupe, many beginning their dancing journey as early as four.
“It’s generational,” said McDaniel. “We even have one DTX member whose two daughters now also dance junior troupe.”
Performances take place from today (October 28) through Sunday (October 30) at the Little Theatre. The Sunday performance will start at 5:00 pm. All other performances will begin at 8:00 pm, with cocktails on the Saturday night beginning at 7:30 pm. Tickets can be bought at the Little Theatre.
Said McDaniel: “Expect to see talent in action. All the pieces are outstanding. We have dances that appeal at all levels, so everyone will find something they like. Come and be entertained.”
