Following the success of its award-winning rum portfolio in Jamaica and across the globe, Worthy Park Estate has expanded its portfolio offerings with a new brand, Worthy Park Select Jamaica Rum, that it expects to further elevate the more than 350-year heritage of the Estate.

Worthy Park Select Rum is distilled, aged, bottled and blended from the Estate’s best sugarcane.

“From ‘cane to glass’, Worthy Park Estate’s international award-winning rums represent the true spirit of a Single Estate Producer, celebrating the art of pot still rum making, now available across 30 countries worldwide,” said Tamika West, marketing manager, Worthy Park Estate.

“Jamaica-owned and Jamaica made, Worthy Park Select is a 100 per cent copper pot distilled rum, moderately aged as a medium-bodied blend of a range of four-year-old to 12-year-old rums.”

PREFERRED AMONG DRINKERS WHO ENJOY AGED SPIRITS

According to the IWSR Domestic Spirits Report, Gold Rum is the second most popular variant of rum consumed in Jamaica, behind 63% alcohol by volume (ABV) white overproof rums, and is preferred among rum drinkers who enjoy aged spirits.

Gold Rum boasts an amber colour, fruity flavours and a smooth, smoky finish. They also possess a standard 40% ABV.

Worthy Park Select will be available in 200ML and 750ML and, according to the Estate, promises a smooth, mellow, sweet rum with notes of spices, vanilla, a hint of cinnamon, tropical fruit, banana and orange.

“We launched our Worthy Park Single Estate Reserve Rum internationally in 2017 and locally in 2019, and the reception was fantastic! Consumers really loved the bottle packaging but, most importantly, they enjoyed the liquid,” said Alexander Kong, commercial manager for spirits at Worthy Park Estate.

“What we quickly noticed was that based on the positioning in the local trade, it quickly became a ‘special occasion’ rum. It was given out as a gift or used to toast to life’s celebrations. This ultimately led us to the development of our Worthy Park Select. We wanted to have a release that would capture some of the elements of our Single Estate Reserve – the look, the feel, the taste – but targeted so it would become a consumer’s go-to, everyday rum choice.”
