Popular carnival band Xaymaca has announced it will be returning to the road next year with a partnership with new band Yard Mas Carnival.

The news follows the recent announcement that two other two bands, Xodus and Bacchanal, are joining forces for Jamaica Carnival 2023, as well as amid ongoing issues that have been plaguing Xaymaca since the pandemic.

In 2020, prospective revellers were told no refunds would be given on deposits or payments made on costumes, with production being so far advanced despite the postponement of Carnival until July 2022.

“I am advocating for the fair settlement of accounts for all masqueraders.”

Kandi King, former Director of Xaymaca International

Xaymaca, who were absent for Carnival this year, released a statement on Thursday (December 1), announcing the partnership, thanking their fans and confirming that all previously registered revellers for Carnival 2020 may have their prior payments credited to Carnival 2023.

The announcement was made one day after former Xaymaca International director, Kandi King, broke her silence on the ongoing ordeal.

Said King: “Unfortunately, I am not able to give any further comments, but please understand that things are happening in the background, and I will release a statement with full transparency when the time is right. This is an unfortunate turn of events, and I am advocating for the fair settlement of accounts for all masqueraders.”

The new band confirmed on their Instagram page that, in addition to gaining priority access, “Yard Mas welcomes ALL Xaymacans with proof of payment to our new mas band with the credited amount that they deposited or paid in full for the Carnival in Jamaica experience in 2020!”
