There are eight Ivy League schools in America, and Yale University is one of them.

Ivy League colleges are globally renowned as elite colleges associated with academic excellence, highly selective admissions, and social elitism.

On October 2nd, Dr Benjamin Powers, Associate Director of Haskins Global Literacy Hub at Yale University, gave a presentation at the Jamaican International Education conference at the S Hotel in Kingston.

Dr Powers focused on executive functioning skills, early learning functions and neurodivergent learners. Dr Powers is also a lecturer at Yale University in the School of Medicine.

When asked why he came to Jamaica for the international education conference, Dr Powers said, “I saw it as a great opportunity to work directly with educators here to embrace research and evidence-based approaches to empower kids through understanding executive functions.

“This provides an avenue to understanding behavioural, emotional and cognitive controls so children can be better learners.”

The conference was put on by Winsome Wishes for KIDS.
