Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is currently under investigation for battery after an incident that allegedly took place Thursday morning.
The incident, reported to have taken place around 3 am at South Santa Fe Avenue and Bay Street in downtown Los Angeles, started out as a verbal altercation before escalating to a physical one.
In a video obtained by TMZ, the 44-year-old rapper can be seen shouting, apparently at a female member of his team, while an unidentified man is lying on the ground.
The victim is reportedly a fan who earlier asked for Ye’s autograph.
The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) as a misdemeanor battery and West may be liable for up to six months imprisonment.
Earlier that evening, the rapper, who seems to have halted his efforts to reunite with wife Kim Kardashian, was partying with girlfriend, Julia Fox.
In the meantime, Coachella has officially announced its lineup for the 2022 festival set in April, with Ye being one of the headliner. This would be his second time headlining since 2011. Also headlining are Eilish and Harry Styles.
Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Bay, Daniel Caesar, Doja Cat, Big Sean, 21 Savagae and Phoebe Bridgers are also set to take the stage.
The festival will be held for two consecutive weekends, beginning Friday, April 15, and ending Sunday, April 24, at the Empire Polo Club in South California.
Ye, following the physical altercation, is reportedly leaving Los Angeles to head to Southern California where he intends to focus on nothing but work.
