Young Jamaica, the youth arm of the JLP, has endorsed Prime Minister Andrew Holness’ announcement at the recent Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) 81st Annual Conference of an initiative to waive fees for craft vendors across the island.

The group said this “bold move” underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to empowering the people of Jamaica, especially small business owners, by removing financial barriers to success.

The fee waiver will provide relief to hundreds of craft vendors who have long struggled with the financial burden of operating in highly competitive markets. By removing this obstacle, the government is offering vendors an opportunity to reinvest their savings into their businesses, enhance their products, and expand their market reach. This, in turn, will contribute to the growth of local communities, create more job opportunities, and elevate the Jamaican brand.

President of Young Jamaica Rohan Walsh stated: “We fully support Prime Minister Holness’ decision to waive fees for craft vendors. This move is about more than just financial relief; it is about creating a nurturing environment where local talent can flourish and contribute meaningfully to the growth of our economy.”
