Young Jamaica condemns the continued deceptive practices of the People’s National Party (PNP), particularly as it concerns the recent controversy involving Dennis Meadows.

Shortly after the PNP president Mark Golding declared Meadows’ removal as the candidate for the Trelawny Northern following the latter’s reprehensible remarks that endorsed lottery scamming, Meadows has, according to recent media reports, contradicted that directive by asserting his ongoing role and firm intention to remain as the constituency chairman.

This contradiction between Meadows’ assertion and the statements made by his Party President regarding his removal underscores a concerning lack of leadership and unity within the PNP’s ranks, especially following their loss at the recent local government elections. The hastiness with which PNP announced Meadows’ removal suggests a lack of sincerity in accountability and pure deceitful political manoeuvring.

Young Jamaica highlights this discrepancy in accountability and urges the public to be wary of the PNP’s three-card trick. Meadows’ lengthy endorsement of scamming activities should automatically disqualify him from holding any political office in Jamaica.

Moreover, Young Jamaica criticises the PNP’s reluctance to strip Meadows of his political roles despite the controversy surrounding him. This reluctance, in our eyes and that of all well-thinking Jamaicans, further demonstrates the PNP’s incompetence in properly managing the systems of governance, accountability and ethical standards at any level.

Young Jamaica calls upon all discerning Jamaicans to see through the PNP’s continued deceptions and to collectively reject both that party and Meadows as candidates worthy of public trust and support.
