Jamaica will, for the first time this weekend, host a 12-hour I Love Soca Jamaica SOCA+ event at Sabina Park outside of the Carnival season with presenting partner, Campari.
With all pre-sold tickets already copped by Soca lovers, thousands are expected to converge on the grounds of Sabina Park in Kingston, but we want to make sure you ‘like yuhself’ enough to survive this multi-genre event.
For this and more, Campari has scoured the ‘Savannah Grass’ again and presents Soca party pros tricks and tips with the goal of helping you survive the night until the break of dawn.
Here are five such tips:
1. Fix Up Yuh Ting! If you need to wax, tan and accessorise, do so at least four hours before the new 12-hour soca party experience, because nothing kills a vibe like traffic! Ensure you have enough deodorant to take you through the night.

Bonus Pro Tip: Haven’t booked your hair, nails and make-up yet? You are not late! You can DIY them in the comfort of your own space before the start of the events.
2. Prepare for all events: With 17 Caribbean DJs lined up to spin the wheels of steel back-to-back, a water party and a breakfast inclusive session, you should prepare for the intense moves and vibes throughout the 12-hour event. If you need a change of clothes or to refresh your make-up, ensure you take your replacements with you.
3. The night is long. Pace yourself! Just as it is with jamming on the road, do not rush the experience. While the music may be pumping, slow down and pace yourselves to savor the experience.
4. Respect is due: While out there whining and putting down your worst behavior, always remember to respect other revelers along the way. Carnival is about having a good time together, so if someone is not taking on your whine, whine elsewhere!
No badda wid di ambush!

5. Par wid supportive friends. As the music moves through the crowd, soca lovers might get away and lose track of themselves in the moment. With that in mind, it is always good idea to stick together! Ensure one of your friends is a designated driver and is responsible enough to ensure your team arrives home safely.
