YouTube is rolling out a suite of tools to elevate video creation in its Shorts video format, come Thursday (July 11).

The features will include text-to-speech (TTS), auto layouts, the ‘Add Yours’ sticker, new captions, new effects and more.

The new text-to-speech video narration allows Shorts users to add an artificial voiceover to their videos, similar to rival short-form video creation app TikTok.

With the new ‘auto layout’ feature for Android, users can now automatically track the main subject of a video, dynamically panning, zooming, and cropping to create visually appealing Shorts from longer videos.

Creators can now also foster community interaction with the new “Add Yours” sticker which will allow audiences to respond to content with their own related content, creating a chain reaction of user-generated videos.

YouTube is also adding the option to include auto-generated captions which can be edited and stylised in various fonts and colours and further expansion to its remixing tool.
