After dominating her 400-meter heats on Monday, August 5, Jamaicans should look forward to what Pryce brings next in the finals and her athletic career.
Pryce was born on March 7, 2001, in St. Mary, Jamaica. Growing up, her career plans included being a professional athlete and a pediatrician.
An alumna of Vere Technical High, she was a standout star at the ISSA Boys and Girls Championships (Champs) with notable performances in the 400m.
She graduated from Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs in 2022 and matriculated to the University of Arkansas.
Her debut started at the London Diamond League meeting on July 20, running an impressive 48.57s in the women’s 400m. Topping Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s 48.75s 400m dash at the USATF (USA Track and Field) New York Grand Prix.
She had set the collegiate record and University of Arkansas all-time best with her previous national record of 48.89.
Pryce’s run comes after signing with the German sportswear brand, Puma. The phenomenal athlete currently stands in seventh place on the all-time top list.
At her first Olympic games, Nickisha continues to excel, running 50.09s in the 400m at the Stade de France, qualifying for the semifinals on Wednesday at 1:53 pm.
