What a fantastic rendition of a Christmas carol classic by parliamentarians Mark Golding and Natalie Neita Harvey. Both are in fine voice here and the video is certainly festive.
It brings back good old-fashioned family values and captures the essence of Christmas in Jamaica. With Mark’s base and Natalie’s dulcet tones, they combine fantastically on O Holy Night. This classic Christmas carol was first sung at a Christmas mass in France in 1847, based on a poem called Cantique de Noel. The music was written by Adolphe Charles Adam.
It is hoped that this Jamaican version doesn’t lead to a political riposte with the Government deciding to counter because this song is indeed heart-warning and tasteful. It should not be politicised or defiled by a tit-for-tat measure.
This was a lovely gesture and should be taken for that. It should resonate well in Jamaican homes.
Well done Mark and Natalie.
I’ll be playing this for my kids.
