NBA guard Tyrese Martin

The Philadelphia 76ers have added guard Tyrese Martin on a two-way contract, the team confirmed Thursday, as it continues to reshape its lineup after the All-Star break.

President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey approved the move, bringing in the 26-year-old who began the season with the Brooklyn Nets. Martin played 37 games there, starting six, and averaged 7.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists in just under 19 minutes per night. He reached double figures 12 times, highlighted by a 26-point outing against the Toronto Raptors in November. Brooklyn waived Martin on February 5th  after guaranteeing his $2.2 million deal, a move tied to roster changes following a trade for Hunter Tyson.

Across two seasons with the Nets and earlier time with the Atlanta Hawks, Martin has played in 113 NBA games, averaging 7.2 points and three rebounds while shooting just over 40 per cent from the field. He has flashed scoring bursts, including a 30-point night with eight three-pointers against the Phoenix Suns in 2024. Originally the 51st pick in the 2022 draft by the Golden State Warriors, the Allentown, Pennsylvania native has also made his presence felt in the G League, posting strong numbers across multiple teams with a steady stream of double-doubles and high-scoring games.

Martin fills Philadelphia’s open two-way slot alongside MarJon Beauchamp and Dalen Terry after Jabari Walker’s promotion to the main roster. The Sixers, currently 30-25 and sitting sixth in the Eastern Conference, are trying to avoid the Play-In Tournament. With Paul George serving a 25-game suspension, Martin gives the backcourt an extra option as the team heads into the final stretch of the season.
