AA launching Fall Jamaica flights from Philadelphia

American Airlines will be operating more flights in and out of Jamaica, as the country has managed to secure more airlifts from America’s dominant air carrier.
American Airlines will launch its first direct flights from Philadelphia International Airport into Kingston’s Norman Manley International Airport beginning in November. The carrier will operate three weekly flights from Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett, who made the disclosure, remarked: “As we see resurgence in international travel and approach Jamaica’s high season, we’re excited to increase access to Kingston… Jamaica’s capital city our UNESCO-designated Creative City that’s slated to see nearly 500 new hotel rooms opening before 2023.”
Greater connectivity afforded by the new service
In a statement released to the media, Jamaica tourism officials say the new service will “allow for greater connectivity on a route frequently traveled by Americans visiting friends and relatives in Jamaica”.
According to Jamaica’s Director of Tourism Donovan White: “This new partnership with American Airlines will afford passengers many opportunities to experience [the] diversity that our capital city offers, while still being able to connect to other resort areas”.
For his part American Airlines Vice President, José A. Freig points out that American has offered flights to Jamaica for “more than four decades. We are looking forward to our continued expansion this year with a new route between Kingston and our Philadelphia hub”.
He added that, “this new route will complement our current Kingston-Miami service and allow us to further strengthen our network in Jamaica, which will include this year up to 80 weekly flights to the US”.
