The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) has reacted to a video circulating on social media claiming that they had received a shipment of military vehicles.
The JDF in a release on Sunday (September 26) said it was not aware of the origin of the post and sought to disassociate itself from the video
According to the JDF it had not made a purchase of the vehicles shown in the circulating video.
”The organisation is also not aware of the origin of the post and disassociates itself from this video or any material related to it,” read the release.
”The JDF reminds everyone to act responsibly and verify all information before sharing. We thank the public for the opportunity to provide clarity on this matter,” added the JDF in the release.
In June 2020 the JDF was to acquire six Thales Bushmaster Protected Vehicles.
According to a statement from the Thales Group the purchase was done on behalf of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) as it continues its five-year relationship with the Australian-made manufacturer.
