Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is advising employers that monthly statutory deductions (S01) for September are due next Tuesday, October 17.

This is because the usual due date of the 14th day of the month falls on the weekend, and the Monday being a public holiday. Taxpayers may, therefore, submit their September S01 the following business day, Tuesday, October 17 without incurring any penalty.

Business persons are reminded of the host of payment options at their fingertips, which includes the TAJ Direct Funds Transfer process for business-related tax payments.

This is in addition to customers being able to make payments via the Tax Authority’s website www.jamaicatax.gov.jm using a credit card, or other banking cards with credit card features, or using the Scotiabank’s electronic funds transfer via TAJ’s website up to a maximum of J$99,999,999.00.

Additionally, employers are urged to make their payments on time so they can benefit from an employment tax credit. Eligible persons MUST file and pay their monthly statutory payroll deductions (S01) on time.

Such employers may claim the total amount of payroll statutory contributions for Education Tax, NHT, NIS, and HEART, that is, both the employee and employer portions, which have been declared and paid on time for each month of that year.
