Kingston Wharves Limited (KWL) has become the latest location in a series of local entities impacted by a string of targeted by bomb threats.
The KWL, in a release issued today, announced that it had to suspend operations for the day due to a bomb threat. The agency is expected to resume its operations once the authorities deem it fit.
“We are committed to ensuring the security of the supply chain and promoting international trade,” the Caribbean’s leading multipurpose terminal operator said in a statement.
The KWL promised to provide further updates on the incident.
The logistics company is among more than 70 institutions that have received bomb threats since last week Thursday. The threats were mainly reported at schools that were forced to suspend operations until the buildings were cleared by local authorities.
According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), the threats are a hoax and Jamaicans were urged not to panic.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey has revealed that one person has been taken into custody as investigations into the series of bomb threats intensify.
