The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) executive election is facing another setback, as Beach Soccer Jamaica and its president, Patricia Garel, have served notice of their appeal of last week’s rejection by the Supreme Court for renewed injunction.

In its ruling, the High Court denied the application by Garel and Beach Soccer for the continuation of their temporary court injunction, which initially barred the election from taking place on January 14.

The petition was struck out on the basis that the applicants, Garel and Beach Soccer Jamaica did not establish that they are an affiliate or member of the JFF, football’s governing body in Jamaica.

As a result, the court ruled that there was no serious issue to be tried by the court but instead of heading to Congress for the election, the disputing parties are now heading back to court with this notice of appeal being served on the JFF.

The initial application by Beach Soccer and Garel is for an order by the Supreme Court to compel the JFF to allow the new affiliate to participate in the election of officers in the highly anticipated polls.

The court granted a temporary injunction so that this matter may be heard. Incumbent JFF president Michael Ricketts, who has been at the helm since 2017, is being challenged by vice-president Raymond Anderson.
