Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced the opening of Jamaica’s first ‘smart police station’ in Hopewell, Hanover, which incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) into the procedures to enhance efficiency.

“For many years, Jamaicans who interact with our police stations have said the process can be very slow due to the manual systems used. We have been updating our police stations to ensure your access to police services is as smooth as possible,” he posted on his X.com account.

Unlike the traditional stations, the ‘smart police station’ will automate certain processes, creating a more efficient experience for citizens and officers.

“It is located in the heart of Hopewell in Hanover and will serve over 21 communities. Let’s take a look inside! We are #CaringForYou,” the prime minister added.

The station also has a rating system that allows customers to log complaints, or leave positive feedback about their experience.

On-duty police officers at Hopewell are also required to wear body cameras.
