The Island Traffic Authority (ITA) is reporting that 28 lives were lost on the nation’s roadways due to road crashes last month.
According to the latest statistics from the ITA, some 174 lives were lost on the nation’s roadways up to Monday, June 3.
This marks a 5 per cent decline in road fatalities when compared to the same period last year, when some 181 fatalities were recorded.
Proceeding at excessive speed with no regard to conditions, failing to keep to the near side or to the proper traffic lane, and pedestrians walking or standing in the road are the top three main causes of road fatalities since the start of the year.
Motorcyclists, pedestrians, and cyclists accounted for the highest number of road users killed since the start of the year.
