Gabby Thomas of the United States won the Olympic gold medal in the women’s 200 metres on Tuesday (August 6).

Julien Alfred doubled Saint Lucia’s medal tally by taking a historic silver to match her 100m gold, while Team USA’s Brittany Brown claimed bronze.

Thomas becomes the first American to mint gold in the women’s 200m since Carmelita Jeter’s effort in the 2012 London Olympics.
