11 Entities to Be honoured for contributions to Jamaica’s socio-economic development and sustainability.

The Jamaica Special Economic Zone Authority (JSEZA) will be hosting the second edition of the SEZ Sustain-A-Livity Awards, scheduled for December 5, 2024, at the AC Marriott Hotel – Rocksteady 1 & 2 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. 

The event will celebrate 11 outstanding entities operating within Jamaica’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs) for their significant contributions to the country’s socio-economic development while demonstrating adherence to sustainable business practices.

The SEZ Sustain-A-Livity Awards recognize SEZ entities that excel in four key areas: Social, Economic, Environmental, and Governance. These awards align with national development goals and international standards, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and are assessed using the Self-Reporting Monitoring Instrument (SRMI).

The awards ceremony will recognize SEZ entities across five categories:

  3. Environmental: Celebrating companies committed to reducing their ecological footprint and driving environmental sustainability.
  4. Governance: Recognizing those with exemplary governance practices in transparency, accountability, and adherence to the rule of law.
  5. Special Sustain-a-Livity Award: A prestigious award recognizing entities that integrate all four pillars (Social, Economic, Environmental, and Governance) into a cohesive sustainability strategy.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Self-Reporting Monitoring Instrument (SRMI): Used to assess the performance of SEZ entities.
  • Alignment with National and International Standards: The awards aim to incentivize sustainable practices that align with Jamaica’s Vision 2030, the Logistics Hub Initiative, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
