Reacting today (June 21) to the brutal killing of four children and their mother in the community of New Road, Clarendon, Denise Daley, Opposition Spokesperson on Gender Affairs, said the “unthinkable acts should serve as a wakeup call for Jamaica” to find practical ways to end the crime epidemic.

According to Daley, “The barbaric murders of young mother Kemisha Wright, and her four children have shocked the sensibilities of all well-thinking citizens of Jamaica.”

She noted that the country has lost respect for the sanctity of life, sharing that “It takes an exceptionally evil heart to cut the throats of not just one, but four young children and their mother.”

“This is an unforgiveable act, which must be condemned and never repeated.”

Bemoaning the frequency at which violence is perpetrated against women and children, the opposition spokeswoman called on the authorities to leave no stone unturned until the person responsible for the murders is brought to justice.

“This is an unforgiveable act, which must be condemned and never repeated,” said Daley.

She added: “I am recommitting the support of the Opposition in doing our part to help in the fight against domestic violence and abuse, as we cannot continue to end the promise of our women and children.”

In closing, the People’s National Party spokeswoman expressed “sincere condolences to the families and friends mourning the loss of Kemisha Wright, Kimana Smith, Shemari Smith, Kafana Smith and 23-month-old Kishaun Henry, who were taken away too soon”.
