Roots Reggae artiste Droop Lion has announced that his first performance for 2025 will be on February 22, and is being held to benefit The Queen’s School music band.

The concert, promoted by Born Music, will feature Droop Lion, Lukie D, Nature Ellis, Prophecy, Tellah, and Andrew Paul.

“It is important and crucial for us to support the development of music skills in schools. For us, music is more than a message, it is a way for the youths to cultivate discipline and expand their skills,” Droop Lion explained. “We look forward to the contribution that the ladies will make to the music industry.”

Born Andrew Brown, Droop Lion chagrined that the school lacks the resources to foster music skills.

“As a real daddy, the children are always on our minds and we try to make their way more feasible. The topic of Let the Children Dance is not about shaking the legs or the head, it is about making the youths happy,” he said about the show to be held on the school’s grounds.“This concert is an invitation to contribute the $5,000 to this worthy cause to further music education in Jamaica. The schools need the equipment to get involved with the music. Forward out and support.”

With 2025 comes promises for the release of a new album and more tour dates for Europe, using his powerful voice with a righteous message.

Droop Lion has had a significant impact with his 2024 single Let The Children Dance.

His worldview is shaped by the constant travel to perform his music. Droop Lion is a consistent act on the US and European reggae touring markets. In the last two years, among his show stops were Athens, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Madrid, Marseille, and Zurich in 2023; and Tulsa, New Orleans, Sacramento, Chicago, Baltimore, and New York in 2024.

“I knew this music would take me far. From that first performance at Reggae On The Hill (Barbados) til now, I have seen and performed for the world. The message must go out.” said Droop Lion. “It always surprises me and warms the I heart to hear the fans in non-English speaking countries singing our lyrics. The biggest shock was in New Caledonia in the South Pacific.”

He shared that his catalogue has positive reactions all over the world particularly Ganja Baby and Have You Ever Seen The Rain in USA; Freeway in Europe and South America; and Ghetto Life and Lockdown in Europe.

Throughout his career, Droop Lion’s talent and passion have piqued the interest of several musical greats. Notably so is the work he did with Jamaica’s legendary artiste, musician, producer, and performer the late Toots Hibbert.

“I knew Toots for roughly four years. During that time I get to really know and respect that man. I learnt of the history of reggae music firsthand and he taught I a lot of vocal techniques as we have a somewhat similar sound,” Droop Lion shared. “He was I mentor and we were working on an album. His passing really shocked me and shook me.”
