In recognition of their extraordinary impact on reggae and dancehall, Wray & Nephew proudly honoured them with its Cultural Icon Award at the 2025 Reggae Gold Awards. This accolade cements their legacy as two of the most influential figures in the industry, whose artistry continues to shape and elevate Jamaica’s musical identity.

Buju Banton, the legendary Gargamel, has been a defining voice in reggae and dancehall for decades. From his socially conscious anthems to his commanding stage presence, Buju’s music has resonated deeply with fans across the globe. His ability to weave messages of resilience, unity, and empowerment into his music has made him a cultural icon, ensuring that his influence extends far beyond the stage.

Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor, a mastermind behind some of the biggest hits in contemporary Dancehall, has transformed the sound of modern Jamaican music.

As a true innovator of dancehall the producer, songwriter, and artist, has adopted a multifaceted approach that has shaped the careers of many and taken the genre to new heights on the international stage.

His fearless creativity and commitment to the craft have solidified his place among the greatest musical architects of his generation.

The Reggae Gold Awards, now a landmark event in Reggae Month, was first introduced in 2019 to honour the pioneers, visionaries, and modern-day torchbearers of Jamaica’s beloved genre.

Since its inception, it has recognised the artists and producers who have not only achieved commercial success but also enriched the cultural and social impact of reggae worldwide. This year’s event, held at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston, saw Buju Banton and Stephen McGregor take centre stage as true ambassadors of the genre.
