Spanish Town well on their way to regaining the INSPORTS/Devon Biscuits Primary Central Champs

Former champions Spanish Town Primary are well on their way to regaining the INSPORTS/Devon Biscuits Primary Schools Central Championship opening up a massive 45-point lead entering the third and final day at the GC Foster College.

Spanish Town which won in 2023, stablished a 45.5 point lead after 11 of the 40 final on the penultimate day racing to 118 points.

Defending champions Naggo Head are struggling to keep pace and are in second spot on 72.5 points just ahead of Greater Portmore siting in third on 68 points.

The top 10 is completed by St John’s Primary (36), Ascot (34), Angels Primary (32.5), Jericho Primary (27), Davis Primary (26), Kensington primary (22) and Southborough Primary (16).

Spanish Town’s late surged came courtesy of winning six of the eight 4×100 relays on Tuesday. They won the Girls’ Classes 1, 3, 4 and the Boys’ Classes 2, 3 and 4.

Angels Primary took the Girls’ Class 1, 4×100 and Naggo Head won the Girls’ Class 2, 4×100 relay.

Earlier, Shanae Thomas of Naggo Head won the first final of the meet winning the Girls’ Cricket Ball Open with a throw of 41.79m. Dwaynea Parker of Time and Patience Primary School was second with 39.80m and Greater Portmore’s Asheka Ivey third with 38.29.

In the Boys’ Cricket Ball Open, record holder Dontae Williams of Jericho Primary won with 64.60m. Williams had broken the record in the preliminaries on Monday with 65.80m. Antonio Smith of Spanish Town with 47.58m was second ahead of Timario Brown of Salt Savannah Primary with 45.50m.

Camoy Jones of Spanish Town Primary captured the Girls’ High Jump Open with a leap of 1.35m ahead of her teammate Kelly-Ann Collins with 1.30m. Anilya Harriott of Angel’s primary was third with 1.25m.
