Reggae singer Lila Iké is gearing up for the Jamaica launch of her newest album, Treasure Self Love, which hit the online market on August 22.
The highly anticipated album was released via Wurl Ike Records and In.Digg.Nation Collective under exclusive licence to Ineffable Records. This represents Lila Iké’s first full-length album following her breakthrough 2020 EP The ExPerience.
To energise her fans, pre-orders were available online before the launch.
During an interview after her sultry and vocally sound performance at the PAN Finals, on August 31, the Manchester native, who was coming off the heels of the Caribbean Music Awards on August 29, where, for the third consecutive year, she won Female Reggae Artiste of the Year, said she was excited to be back on the rock.
“Right now, the goal is to push this new album. Getting ready right now to do the launch here in Jamaica. I just completed the one in London, so there’s that. And then I go off on tour and a launch in New York as well,” Lila Iké said.
“The main goal right now is just to show up as much as I can,” she said.
Before returning to the island, and during an interview with ABC News’ Juju Chang on August 29, she said the messages from the songs on Treasure Self Love are about her mental health journey.
“The music on this album, I went really deep and vulnerable. I spoke about some stuff that my friends probably didn’t know I was going through. I got diagnosed three or four years ago with bipolar disorder, and it was a lot to deal with, and so I opened up about that, and you know the main point is to just let other people who might be going through whatever mental issues, just know that I see you, I hear you, I understand it,” Lila Iké said.
“It’s just learning that about myself and realising that the more I speak on things like these, it’s the more I help to heal myself and others,” she said.

In the last year, she released some standout singles from the 11-track debut, including He Loves Us Both featuring H.E.R., Fry Plantain featuring Joey Bada$$ and Too Late To Lie.
She made her Reggae Sumfest debut on July 19 in the second city of Montego Bay, St. James, which marked a major milestone for her, as she performed for the first time at her island’s largest annual music festival.
The Jamaican dynamic singer and songwriter also, in July, dropped a single dubbed Romantic featuring Dancehall artiste Masicka.
Regarding her win at the Caribbean Music Awards for a third consecutive year as Female Reggae Artiste of the Year, which was her first time attending, she said, “It’s amazing, because it’s something that people actually have to vote for, so the people chose me as their reggae female artiste of the year.”
“The first time I won, it was like, ‘Wow’. It’s amazing that I won again. People are finally recognising the work that I’ve put in,” she said.
