The Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) extends congratulations to the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) on securing victory in the 2025 General Elections.
The PSOJ also recognised the People’s National Party (PNP) for a spirited campaign that reflected the island’s strong democratic traditions.
“The election results—with the incumbent JLP winning 34 of the 63 parliamentary seats and the Opposition PNP securing 29—underscore the closeness of this contest and the vibrancy of Jamaica’s democracy.
“This narrow margin reflects a deeply engaged electorate, one that is thoughtfully weighing policies, leadership, and the direction of our country’s future,” the PSOJ said.

At the same time, the PSOJ noted “with concern the historically low voter turnout of 39.50%”. It said this h highlights the need for all stakeholders—government, opposition, civil society, and the private sector—to work together to rebuild public trust, strengthen civic engagement, and ensure that more Jamaicans feel represented in the democratic process.
“The PSOJ welcomes the balance of power now reflected in the House of Representatives. We believe this configuration is healthy for Jamaica’s democracy, encouraging robust debate, constructive collaboration, and the pursuit of solutions in the best interest of all Jamaicans.
“As Jamaica moves forward, the PSOJ reaffirms its commitment to working closely with the Government to strengthen the country’s economic growth trajectory and ensure a supportive environment for businesses and the wider private sector,” the group added.
“Together, we must continue to reduce bureaucracy, enhance productivity, expand opportunities for our micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and secure sustainable investments that benefit every Jamaican. The PSOJ stands ready to engage the Administration, Parliament, and all stakeholders in advancing Jamaica’s economic and social progress.”
