Hyundai Jamaica has extended its support to the people of Trelawny, partnering with the FYI Consultancy Group to bring essential aid to several communities that Hurricane Melissa severely impacted.

Building on its recent collaboration with the Christopher Martin Foundation and Bright Beginnings Charity Group, the mission, conducted on November 5, reached residents across Zion, Granville, Falmouth, Reserve, Sherwood, Perth Town, Salt Marsh, New Town, and Johnson Hill.

Operating from its central base at William Knibb High School in Martha Brae, Usain Bolt’s alma mater, the team worked alongside several partners to provide vital assistance to families and children affected by the storm.

As part of its contribution, Magna Motors Dealership Limited, the exclusive distributor of Hyundai vehicles in Jamaica, deployed a fleet of Hyundai Santa Fe vehicles to access remote communities that were difficult to reach due to debris and flooding.

One vehicle was equipped with Starlink satellite internet, allowing residents to connect with relatives and emergency services. Hyundai also provided purified water and medical kits to support health and well-being during the recovery process.

The effort was further strengthened through partnerships with the JN Foundation, St. John’s Ambulance, Digicel Foundation, Purity Bakery, and Roklan Generators, who provided relief packages, volunteer support, and power solutions that enabled residents at William Knibb High School to charge devices and stay connected.

“Hyundai’s mission has always been about more than mobility. It is about empowering communities, especially in moments of hardship. As we witnessed the devastation in Trelawny, our focus was on bringing hope and practical support where it was most needed. Jamaica is our home, and we stand committed to rebuilding with the people, not just for them,” Erick Gutierrez, acting general manager of Magna Motors Jamaica, reflected on the company’s involvement.

Carla Hollingsworth, marketing manager at Hyundai Jamaica, emphasised the importance of continuity in the company’s relief efforts, saying, “This mission was about showing up again, consistently, for the people of Jamaica. Just days after our partnership with the Christopher Martin Foundation in Trelawny, we knew we had to return. The need is great, and the recovery will take time, but together with our partners, we are proud to help rebuild lives and restore a sense of hope.”

Echoing this sentiment, Praysi Garcia, director of marketing at Magna Motors Headquarters, added, “Community resilience is at the heart of Hyundai’s values across all markets. Seeing our Jamaica team work hand in hand with local partners and residents reminds us that progress happens when compassion and collaboration drive the journey forward.”
