Russell Wilson moved fast to clear the air after his name surfaced in newly released Justice Department files connected to Jeffrey Epstein.

The veteran quarterback insisted he never met Epstein and had zero dealings with him, pushing back hard as online chatter took off.

Wilson’s name appeared in the document dump through a January 2019 email written by Epstein’s pilot, Larry Visoski, which suggested the Super Bowl-winning quarterback had an interest in purchasing Epstein’s Gulfstream G-IV jet. Once the files became public on Friday, that single mention spread rapidly on social media and triggered immediate backlash.

The soon-to-be free agent responded by explaining that a plane broker had randomly approached him about buying an aircraft, without any indication of who owned it. Wilson said he never purchased the jet and never spoke to or met Epstein at any point.

Wilson was not the only figure tied to the New York Giants organisation whose name appeared in the records. Team co-owner Steve Tisch was also mentioned, with emails showing communication between him and Epstein, including discussions involving women. That revelation prompted Tisch to issue his own response. Tisch later said the women referenced were adults and maintained that he declined invitations from Epstein and never visited his private island.
