The Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA), in collaboration with the Port Authority of Jamaica (PAJ) and Port Handlers Limited (PHL) is urging importers, consignees, and customs brokers to have their cargo at the Montego Bay Port cleared by April 30, 2026.

At the end of the notice period, cargo still at the port past the due storage time will be transferred to Kingston, where it will be placed under the control of the JCA within designated King’s Warehouse facilities.

After being transferred, the legal process related to the treatment of uncleared goods will start, possibly involving storage, further notice, and disposal by public action under the Customs Act.

This action is being taken to help ease congestion at the Montego Bay port. Also this is part of ongoing efforts to restore efficiency, improve cargo flow, and strengthen accountability across the trading environment.

Importers and consignees are ben encouraged to avoid delays, added costs, and possible disposal … act now. Items remaining after the deadline may be auctioned.

The JCA urges stakeholders to expedite clearance to avoid these punitive actions.
