International Afrobeats performer Burna Boy, who hails from Nigeria, has decided to take matters into his own hands and elevate the production standards of performances in Nigeria.
It has often been a complaint that third world countries put on shows with great acts but fall woefully short on the production side, where poor professionalism and mishaps are the order of the day.
Only last month, Burna Boy performed in Jamaica with the show marked by technical problems.
Dancehall artiste Popcaan was incensed when his performance at the same show was marred by glitches and problems and was vocal in his condemnation of Sharon Burke and her company, Solid Agency.

The Jamaican performer claimed Burke and her company tried to sabotage his performance because of a personal feud.
Solid Agency has since demanded that Popcaan retract what it considers defamatory statements.
Popcaan was rightfully infuriated with the shoddy technical set up and would have placed high expectations on himself. It’s hard to believe Solid Agency deliberately were intent on making him look bad.

It should always be about getting it right and delivering what was promised.
Burna Boy recently suffered a similar fate in Lagos where a show in his own country fell victim to poor technical standards.
It reveals the character of the man that he firstly apologised to his fans and made a commitment to bring more exacting standards to the audio and production of live performances in his country.

He took to social media writing: “I love you but I can’t do this again. The organisational structure and infrastructure is not there for the complexities of my audio and production needs
“Let’s be clear. I wasn’t late, my band wasn’t late. We pride ourselves on being highly professional especially with our stage craft.
“There were three options available to me; wait for audio to be fixed and delay the show, come out at 11 pm as planned with no sound or call breach of contract and pull the plug.
“I know I can’t go all over the world and neglect my own people so I am taking matters into my own hands. I am getting the troops to work on building world-class infrastructure in the Nigerian entertainment business.
“Investors and stakeholders interested please hit me up, we need to make some changes.

“I apologise to my fans for how hectic it was, thank you for staying and weathering the storm with me.
“I commend my band@frontheoutsiders for making lemonade with the worst lemons we’ve ever seen.
“Wonder X, KC Kennedy, Olisa Adibua and Creative Economy Catalyst (CEC) did an abysmal job of executing anything and my fans should never have had to go through that.
“I’ll see you all again, on spaceship time! No one else’s.
“Love, Damini.”
