Many Jamaicans will welcome the familiar Christmastime feeling as a cold front begins its approach to the island on Monday (December 18).

The Jamaica Meteorological Service, in its morning forecast on Sunday, also notes the presence of a localised trough that is expected to linger for the next several days, bringing increased showers and heavy cloud cover.

Following a generally cloudy morning, skies are projected to give way to periods of afternoon showers and thunderstorms across sections of most parishes.

The respective maximum temperature expected for major cities Kingston and Montego Bay is 31 and 30 degrees Celsius.
