She was loyal, she was faithful, she had her boss’s back, and today Attorney-General of the United States Pam Bondi was fired by President Donald Trump.
Only last month, President Trump fired Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Kristi Noem ostensibly for spending millions of dollars on a campaign ad which prominently featured her without his approval.
Taking to his Truth Social media platform today, President Trump wrote: “Pam Bondi is a great American patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year. Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in crime across our country, with murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900.
“We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much-needed and important new job in the private sector to be announced at a date in the near future. Our Deputy Attorney-General and a very talented and respected legal mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as Acting Attorney General.”
Commentators surmise that Bondi was perhaps a little too delicate and had no success in hunting down and prosecuting Trump’s opponents. Furthermore, she made no progress with the Epstein Files and was unable to protect President Trump from blowback from his association with the convicted paedophile.
President Trump wanted to punish former New York Attorney General Letitia James, Senator Adam Schiff and former FBI Director James Comey, but they all came out unscathed.
“Trump found Bondi ineffective and a lightweight. Sure, a nice girl who was loyal but she had to go. She was expected to bring plenty of people connected to the Epstein Files to book. And she was unable to do so. The President was frustrated by her lack of performance, though he valued her loyalty. The question is will Tulsi Gabbard be next?” said Tom Hatfield of the Stockport Sentinel.
Bondi was subpoenaed to sit for a deposition on Capitol Hill regarding the Epstein investigation on April 14th 2026.
The former Attorney General had a combative approach rather than being a more sombre legal eagle. Critics say she put political colours before the interpretation of the law at the Department of Justice.
This move by Trump will make Cabinet members wary, and they will not want to appear unable to do the President’s bidding.
